Specialized Tarmac SL7 is our new team bike!
InForm TM Insight MAKE is excited to announce that the all-new Specialized Tarmac SL7 will be our official 2021 team bike.
The Tarmac SL7 is a singular race bike optimising weight, aerodynamics, and ride quality. It’s the fastest no compromised bike ever made, it’s one bike to rule them all.
“Our riders are always making compromise somewhere on the racecourse and that’s exactly where the Tarmac SL7 was born. We just simply weren’t willing to make those compromises anymore,” Road Product Manager Cameron Piper said in the Tarmac SL7 launch video.
Specialized have created a bike that’s as light as the UCI rules will allow but it’s faster than most aero bikes on the road. It’s more integrated but easier to use with better handling and ride quality.
InForm TM Insight MAKE rider David Williams is excited by the announcement of the Tarmac SL7.
“It’s a very clean design, super-streamlined with no exposed cables. I like that they’ve kept all the good parts of the existing SL6 and merged more parts from the Venge so we will be familiar with how it rides as soon as we jump on them with a bit of added speed which never hurts,” Williams said.
The team will upgrade from the SL6 to a complete race bike, which weighs 6.8kg out of the box for a 56cm frame. The SL7 is perfectly suited to climbing, which will no doubt help the team on the road in 2021.
“The Tarmac SL6 was known for its handling, so I’m glad they’ve kept the same Rider-First engineering and geometry from the SL6 and put it on the SL7, giving us that sense of familiarity and comfort,” Williams said.
